Application Instructions
Below are Instructions on how to apply the paint based on the quantity and product type purchased from us. For best results:
- Always test paint color on a small hidden area before applying.
- Work in a well-ventilated, dust-free, shaded area with temperatures between 65°F–80°F (18°C–27°C).
- Use steady hands—rest your wrist on a stable surface while painting.
- Wear a respirator and protective gear at all times.
- If the damage is large or rusted, consider professional repair for best long-term results.
Premium Touch Up Paint Kit
1. Prepare the Surface
- Wash with soap and water to clean the area, then use SCUFF REMOVER to eliminate any oils or wax.
- Inspect the damage – If you see bare metal or plastic, lightly sand and apply a thin coat of primer first. Let it dry completely.
- Lightly sand around the chip or scratch with 600–1500 grit sandpaper to remove loose paint and create a smooth transition.
2. Apply the Touch-Up Base Coat
- Shake the TOUCH UP PAINT bottle well to remix the paint.
- Apply a small amount directly into the chip or scratch using a fine tip applicator. Avoid getting paint outside the damaged area. Build gradually.
- Allow each coat to dry 15–30 minutes before adding the next.
- For three stage paint colors: Complete the steps above when applying the Base Color (labeled Step 1) then complete the steps for the Pearl (labeled Step 2).
3. Apply CLEAR COAT
- After the base color coat dries completely, apply a thin layer of clear coat.
- Let it self-level and dry for 1–2 hours between coats if applying multiple layers.
- Allow full curing for 24 hours before polishing.
4. Finishing the Repair
- After 24–48 hours, wet sand the repaired spot gently with 2000 grit sandpaper until smooth and level with the surrounding paint.
- Polish the area using rubbing compound, then finish with a polishing compound for shine.
- Wipe clean with a microfiber cloth.
- Avoid waxing the area for 30 days to allow complete curing.
Aerosol Spray Can
1. Preparation
- Wash the surface with soap and water, then use wax and grease remover to eliminate oils and residue.
- Use masking tape and paper to cover windows, trim, and any areas not being painted.
- Sand the surface – Smooth the area with 320–600 grit sandpaper to remove old paint, chips, or rust. Feather the edges so the repair area blends with the existing paint.
- Wipe down with wax and grease remover and a tack cloth to remove dust.
2. Priming
- Shake the primer can for at least 2 minutes.
- Hold the can about 6–8 inches from the surface.
- Apply 2–3 light coats, allowing each coat to dry at least 15 minutes between coats.
- Let the primer cure for at least 1 hour (longer if specified on the can).
- Wet sand with 600 grit sandpaper until smooth, then clean and dry.
3. Applying Base Coat (Color)
- Shake the color can thoroughly.
- Spray light, even coats from about 6 inches away.
- Apply 3–4 coats, waiting at least 15 minutes between each.
- Avoid heavy passes to prevent runs.
- Allow the base coat to dry for 60 minutes before applying clear coat.
4. Applying Clear Coat
- Prepare the clear coat can by follow directions on the can.
- Apply 2–3 medium coats, keeping the same spray distance.
- Wait 10–15 minutes between coats.
- After the final coat, let the clear cure for at least 24 hours before handling.
5. Finishing Touches
- Once fully cured, wet sand lightly with 1500 grit (optional) to remove imperfections.
- Buff with polishing compound for a high-gloss finish.
- Avoid washing or waxing the painted area for 30 days to allow full curing.
